The iconic department store located in the West End of London was established in 1875 by Arthur Lasenby Liberty. The building itself is notable for its Tudor-style architecture, which was designed by the architect Edwin T. Hall. Constructed using timber from two old Royal Navy ships, HMS Hindustan and HMS Impregnable. Over the years Liberty has evolved into a luxury department store, offering a wide range of products, including fashion, beauty, and home goods, while maintaining its focus on unique and artisanal items.
Liberty of London Tana Lawn is a high quality cotton fabric known for its vibrant prints and smooth texture. It is made from fine cotton fibres sourced from the Tana River in Tanzania, which gives it a luxurious feel and drape. The prints are usually intricate and colourful, often inspired by floral and nature themes. Fabrics are designated with names that inspire the names I choose for my dolls. Naming dolls after the fabrics can add a unique and personal touch to each of my creations. It allows for a connection between the aesthetic qualities of the fabric and the personality or story of the doll.
